Shizue M. LaPointe/Dutt
Shizue M. LaPointe/Dutt is member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe and the daughter of the late Francis “Frank” LaPointe Sr. and Elizabeth (Randall) LaPointe. She is a 1986 graduate from St. Francis Indian School and attended the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota and Sinte Gleska University. She is currently working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services.
Shizue's employment experiences started back in 1994 beginning with Head Start teacher, Head Start Family Service Advocate, Head Start Family Service Assistant, Head Start Family Service and Disability Manger. She has countless hours of training pertaining to case management, performance standards, supervision, family case planning, work performance, etc. She served on the Head Start parent committee, Rosebud Sioux Tribe Health Advisory committee, Todd County School District parent advisory committee and on the Department of Social Services Child Protection Team.
She resides in Winner, South Dakota and is married to Scott Dutt, who is employed with the Todd County School District Attendance Intervention Department. She has two children from a previous marriage. Her son, Zeke Parvin is 18 years old and will be attending Missoula Valley School of Taxidermy in Thompson Falls Montana in January, 2008. Her daughter, Sammie Parvin is 17 years old and is a Senior at Winner High School. Both children are active in sports, hunting, and fishing.
She advocates for education, alcohol and drug free life styles, and advocates for "our people," in order to to provide quality and effective services for the Native Americans throughout the state of South Dakota.
